Hemorrhoids Treatment

Hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels in and around the anus and lower rectum that stretch under pressure, similar to varicose veins in the legs. Not all rectal bleeding is from hemorrhoids but Dr. Chan will ascertain the cause first. Infrared photo coagulation laser treatment is a well tolerated, state-of-the-art technique used to burn hemorrhoidal tissue and prevent further bleeding. You will be able to go about your usual activities after the procedure. Sedation / anesthesia is not necessary but available to some patients. (Note: you need to have an enema about 1 hour before the procedure.)
